Maintenance on an entry can be accomplished two ways just like car maintenance.  You can wait until something breaks and schedule service or be proactive and eliminate most of your outages.  

Most gate operators are solar powered.  Solar means most outages occur when it's overcast and batteries lose their charge or die.  Overcast in Texas means it's winter, rainy, cold, windy etc.  90% of broken gates/operators can be prevented with annual maintenance to keep you driving through your entry when the weather is bad.
